With the arrival of Pope Francis in NYC this week, expect heavy traffic delays throughout New York City. Many areas near and around Central Park will be effected. Please allow additional time if heading into Central Park for any of the events happening over the next few days, including the Rolex Horse Show at Wollman Rink (September 23-27th), SummerStage Walk The Moon Concert (September 24th), Pope Francis procession through New York City's Central Park (Friday September 25th) and on Saturday The Global Citizens concert on the Great Lawn.
The Pope will be staying at the Papal Nuncio's Residence located on 72nd Street between Fifth and Madison Avenue. The street and surrounding areas will be subject to closures to traffic at anytime from Thursday through Saturday. 72nd Street will be closed to traffic starting ealy Thursday - Saturday between Madison and Fifth Avenue.
On Friday in anticipation of the procession through Central Park, expect the following closures:
Beginning at approximately midnight the following streets in the vicinity of Central Park will be closed to vehicular traffic until approximately 7 p.m.:
