NewYorkTimes.Com reported at 9:14am today "Good morning on this snow-dusted Monday". Spring might have arrived on Sunday, but you will need your mittens and overcoat today. Don’t be surprised if you see some frosted branches and traces of snow on the ground when you roll out of bed.
While areas to the north and east of us recieved anywhere from 1-6 inches, Central Park only recieved a trace of snow. As if the fluctuating weather weren’t confusing enough, temperatures will climb to almost 50 degrees today, probably followed by above-average temperatures of near 70 on Wednesday. March continues on its rollercoaster of a weather ride.
Springtime snow is not unusual; last year, on the first day of spring, four inches fell in Central Park.. The city has definitely seen bigger storms in March — and even in April. On April 13, 1875, and again on April 3, 1915, 10 inches of snow fell. What has been unusual is that it was so warm early on. We broke records when the temperatures hit a record high of 81 degrees earlier this month.
