The Lasker Pool at Night.
Come out and chill out; the 54 outdoor pools operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation opened on June 27.
In Central Park, Lasker Pool, located at 110th Street and Lenox Avenue, also started welcoming swimmers looking to get away from the heat of New York City. There is a wading pool and Olympic pool for visitors.
Open through September 2, the pools are accessible daily from 11AM to 3PM, and 4PM to 7PM.
The Lasker Pool also runs a series of free programming throughout the summer. Kids and adults can partake in free Learn to Swim lessons and for adults, there are also Water Aerobics and a free Lap Swim program, which designates "Early Bird" lap swim hours from 7AM to 8:30AM and "Night Owl" lap-swim hours from 7PM to Dusk. Kids 6 - 18 are invited to join the Youth Swim Team to train for the Five Borough Championship. For further information call 212-534-7639 or visit our Lasker Pool Page.
And for the kids who get hungry while swimming, the Department of Education has a free summer lunch program at the pool where children 18 and under can get breakfast and lunch for free on weekdays.
