Aug 1st, 2025 - Photographers David Lei and Jacqueline Emery have documented Romeo and Juliet, Central Park’s first resident coyote couple. After years of tracking them, they captured the coyotes’ nocturnal life and adaptation to the urban environment.

Lei and Emery advocate for coexistence, urging visitors to respect the animals by leashing dogs and minimizing disturbances. The NYC Parks Department supports this approach, emphasizing safety and awareness.
With care and understanding, peaceful coexistence between Manhattanites and these shy, intelligent coyotes is possible.
