In this week's NYC edition of cityguide.com there's an article on Central Park which points out how most out-of-towners can’t spare the time to really explore the park, so they miss the secrets and stick to the “greatest hits"; well-known spots such as The Pond, the Zoo, the Reservoir, Sheep Meadow, and Strawberry Fields.
Far fewer tourists visit the northern (uptown) half of the park, which contains dramatic rock outcroppings, shady glades, streams, and waterfalls. One missed area is the Ramble, a 36-acre refuge in the center of the park between 73rd and 79th Streets, and also a mecca for birdwatchers.
