
Emerald Green Group, the Philadelphia restaurateurs that will be re-opening Tavern on the Green, has recently posted a preliminary first filing with the Department of Buildings. The general "place of assembly" posting indicated no specific work that will be done, but is the first filing by the group responsible for the restaurant's interior. All recent filings had been by the city's Economic Development Corp., which is responsible for the exterior.
The iconic restaurant has been slated to re-open by the end of the year, but progress was held up due to troubles with financing. The institution seems a long way from completion: holes have not yet been filled in the scaffold covered walls, the surrounding landscape is still raw and there is no union contract in place with the New York Hotel & Motel Trades Council Local 6.
