On Saturday, the city begins its annual stretch of Summer Streets weekends, staging a series of outdoor activities from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park. Traffic on parts of Park Avenue, to 72nd Street, and Lafayette Street will close beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday and reopen at 1:30 p.m. "Summer Streets gives New Yorkers an all-access pass to seven miles of open, car-free space to walk, run, ride bikes and play,” Janette Sadik-Khan, the city’s transportation commissioner, said in a statement. “From zip lines to rock climbs, and dozens of other healthy, free activities, New Yorkers can reach new heights of fun on the first three Saturdays in August.”
