January 14, 2025 - The New York Historical Society will unveil an exhibit celebrating Flaco's year of freedom and impact on urban wildlife awareness.
Flaco, a Eurasian eagle owl that escaped from the Central Park Zoo and lived freely in New York City for a year, will be honored with an exhibit titled "The Year of Flaco" at the New York Historical Society starting February 9th.
The exhibit will feature photos, videos, and tributes from admirers, highlighting his journey and the impact he had on the community.
Flaco's escape occurred on February 2, 2023, due to vandalism, leading to a year of public fascination until his tragic death from a building collision on February 23, 2024.
The exhibit will also address urban wildlife challenges and provide information on how residents can support local birds.
