Sheep Meadow Skyline View from Nell Singer Lilac Walk
Location: MAP | Mid-park at 69th Street, just north of Sheep Meadow
Each spring when the lilacs bloom in purple, pink and white, the Lilac Walk beckons to park lovers with its fragrant allure, and this otherwise ordinary-looking little path is transformed into a blossoming wonderland featuring many varieties of lilacs from around the world.
The Lilac Walk was conceived and financed by Nell Singer and created in 1970. During 1990 and 1991, the Central Park Conservancy performed a major replanting of the beds, and it has been well-cared for ever since.
The path also offers a clear view of the NYC skyline from its location at the northeast edge of Sheep Meadow.
